Visual Identity
The new Barclaycard design system
The Barclaycard style guide had recently been updated with many pages across the site being in old style. Because the guide was newly introduced it gave me an opportunity to push the styling and work with brand to evolve the design language.
03
Prototyping and User Testing
We performed a week of testing to get live feedback so we could make instant iterations.
We tested various business owners from sole traders to limited company CEO’s and partnerships to make sure the journeys made sense in terms of data capture, readability and hierarchy. We also wanted to make sure the participants all finished in a reasonable timeframe, with expectations being met.
04
Final Outcomes
After vigorous testing we were in a position to finalise our journeys and apply high fidelity. With one last set of test (in which included some participants with disabilities so we could also make sure we were meeting high accessibility standards) we were in a position to build out the online application form. See below…
The importance of the handheld experience
As this application is meant to be viewed by various corporates across the globe, it was important to have a good experience regardless of the size of your screen.

What did I learn?
Being even more collaborative
Working on such a tight deadline and with an iterative testing process, it was important more than ever to work closely with the researchers and the PO. So we could identify key learnings and work cohesively as a team to improve our journey for the better.
Work closely with brand
Being a newly released design language, I worked closely with brand when creating new components, making sure styling was consistent with the design language and met industry standard in regards to accessibility.
Every details matter
When working for on such a broad journey with many variants, everything needed close attention. The visual hierarchy between your elements, the smallest piece of copy, the order of things : everything needed to be thought through and clearly explained.
